Coco Chips FAQs
Coconut chips are one of the ways coconut husks (also referred to as coconut coir) are processed to be used for houseplants and gardens. Coco chips are made by chopping coconut coir into uniform chunks and are an eco-friendly, water-absorbing equivalent to conventional mulch. Coco coir can also be made into coco peat, a finer, less chunky product that provides a sustainable alternative to conventional peat moss. Choose coco chips over coco peat when you need more aeration and less moisture retention in your soil.
Coco chips can both retain water AND promote better soil aeration and drainage, making it more ideal for indoor gardeners than traditional potting soil alone. It helps your plants to absorb water and nutrients more effectively while reducing oversaturation & preventing waterlogged roots.
Mix coconut husk chips into your soil mix any time you want more soil aeration. Our coco chips can be added to soil for potted plants, outdoor gardens, orchid cultivation, vegetables, herbs, and flowers. Coco chips can also be used to mulch garden beds and in landscaping as a decorative alternative to bark and other mulches. Tropical houseplants particularly love coconut coir mixed into their pots.
